Fernando Gómez Castañeda

Sales Manager GeneTilapia

Fernando holds a Bachelors degree in Oceanography from the Universidad Autonoma de Baja California in 1983. He has more than 30 years of experience in aquaculture production having mainly worked on species like tilapia, catfish, bigmouth bass and carps.

He was previously in charge of an aquaculture centre operated by the State of Sonora for 5 years where he gained experience in fish hatchery and production. He first started out as a sales assistant and later became the Center Manager.

Fernando has also worked for 12 years as Production Manager of three tilapia and catfish grow-out farms in the States of Sonora and Michoacan.

In the year 2000 he became the Production Manager of Acuacultivos Mexicanos S.A de C.V, a fully integrated company with hatchery, grow-out, processing and commercialization of catfish fillets. It became the leading catfish fingerling hatchery in Mexico.

In GeneTilapia, Fernando holds the role as Sales Manager and he is responsible for developing the national market for Spring Tilapia as well as developing production sites within Mexico.
